There are so many do’s and do not’s when it comes to digital marketing, it can be overwhelming for a beginner.
Some of the biggest mistakes can be easily made and these can have catastrophic effects on your business if you don’t learn how to avoid them.
Manage your workload
The first mistake to avoid is acquiring too big a workload, you may be good at a certain facet of marketing but your work will suffer if you spread yourself too thin. If deadlines are looming then you won’t be able to concentrate on your work and complete it to a high standard. To combat this you can attempt to react more quickly to new clients and organise your workload more effectively to stay focused. Staying productive when you don’t feel like doing so can be a struggle but this will save you from having to rush to finish a job.
Have a schedule and stick to it
This takes us into the next most commonly made mistake, not having a schedule to keep you on track. Completing smaller goals to deadline will make the larger task run more smoothly and make sure that nothing important is left out. The simple solution here is to make a plan before you start your task and ensure that it’s realistic. There’s no point in promising yourself that you’ll get an insurmountable amount of work in an unrealistic time frame as it will only lead to more frustration and missed deadlines.
Liaise well with others
Lastly not being able to work with others can be a huge flaw in any marketer, you’ll need to liaise with designers and copywriters so good people skills are essential. Make sure that they know your expectations going forward to keep everyone working to the same timeline and don’t be afraid to follow up when things don’t go according to plan.
